LWMP/Lagoon Regulatory Deficiencies

We're addressing regulatory deficiencies in our Liquid Waste Management Plan (LWMP) and lagoon system. We aim to comply fully with environmental regulations and guidelines, thereby ensuring safe and efficient waste management while minimizing any potential environmental impact. This commitment underlines our dedication to preserving the health of our community and our surrounding ecosystems.

Meter Replacement Program Support

This initiative aims to replace outdated or malfunctioning water meters across the City. It is an important step in our ongoing commitment to ensure accurate water usage tracking, promoting water conservation and allowing for more efficient management of the City's water resources. Despite these unforeseen delays, we remain committed to its successful completion, ensuring the effective management of the City's water resources.

Hydrant Maintenance Program

We are committed to the execution of a Hydrant Maintenance Program as part of our ongoing public safety initiatives. This program entails regular inspection, servicing, and repair of all hydrants within our jurisdiction. Through this systematic maintenance, we aim to ensure that our hydrants are always in optimal condition, ready to provide crucial support during emergencies and effectively contribute to fire protection efforts.

Water Unidirectional Flushing Plan

We are implementing a Water Unidirectional Flushing Plan as part of our commitment to maintaining a high-quality water supply. This process involves systematically flushing water pipes in a specific sequence to remove sediment and enhance the overall water quality. By doing so, we aim to ensure the reliability and longevity of our water supply infrastructure and deliver clean, safe water to our community.

Connect The Quays Pathway (Quay to Quay)

We have embarked on an exciting project to connect the Quays pathway, linking Victoria Quay and Harbour Quay. This significant recreational asset, being carried out in collaboration with a renowned architectural firm from Vancouver, was executed in three stages between 2023 and 2024.

The Harbour Quay portion was integrated into the recently acquired Somass Lands and the existing Tyee Landing boardwalk.

Sight Line Improvements

We are focusing on a strategic initiative to enhance sight lines across the City. This effort involves revising and improving the visual field at intersections and roadways, ensuring a clear and unobstructed view for drivers, which is crucial for their safety and the efficient movement of traffic.

Traffic Signal Review

We are currently conducting a comprehensive review of the City's traffic signal system. This analysis aims to ensure efficient traffic flow, improve safety, and optimize signal timings for the benefit of all road users.

Scheduled for a 2024 start, 2025 completion.
