Brief Explanation of Project

We have embarked on an exciting project to connect the Quays pathway, linking Victoria Quay and Harbour Quay. This significant recreational asset, being carried out in collaboration with a renowned architectural firm from Vancouver, was executed in three stages between 2023 and 2024.

The Harbour Quay portion was integrated into the recently acquired Somass Lands and the existing Tyee Landing boardwalk.

The northern loop at Victoria Quay has taken advantage of existing infrastructure, as it loops extending from Victoria Quay along Roger Creek, leading to the now complete Roger Creek Connector trail.

The final phase, the Roger Creek Connector Trail provides a direct link between Roger Creek Park and the newly created Scott Kenney Trail.

At the January 22, 2024, Council meeting, $1,253,411 in funding was approved from the Growing Communities Fund to complete the third and final phase of the Quay the Quays Pathway along Dry Creek and Roger Creek. In September 2024 the pathway was completed, and the community was welcomed to walk/bike/jog this exciting new Port Alberni asset. Wayfinding signage along the pathway will be added in 2025.
