The City of Port Alberni is inviting letters of interest from citizens interested in assisting with the review process for the City of Port Alberni’s Community Investment Program.
This Committee reviews the grant applications from not-for-profit community service, multicultural, and recreation/amateur sport organizations, based on the priorities established by City Council. This Committee also reviews permissive tax exemption applications each year in accordance with Community Charter legislation and Council’s policy.

To ensure the continued supply of high-quality drinking water, City crews are in North Port Alberni flushing water mains. This annual maintenance work may result in discolored water coming from your taps. Any discoloration is temporary and the water is safe to drink. If discolouration is noticed, residents can open their cold water taps and allow the water to flow until the lines clear.
The City of Port Alberni expects this work to take approximately six to eight weeks to complete. For more information, please contact City Works Department at 250-720-2840.
The City of Port Alberni has been working to rehabilitate Josephine Street Bridge, located on Josephine Street between River Road and Beaver Creek Road.
Road restoration activities for the bridge are now complete and the road is open to traffic. You may continue to see crews working in the area as they put the finishing touches on the bridge and conduct their final site cleanup.

The City of Port Alberni is pleased to welcome Alicia Puusepp as the new Manager of Communications.
Alicia brings considerable experience from her years with Metro Vancouver’s Public Involvement Division. She has served in the capacity of Consultation and Community Relations Coordinator and most recently as a Communications and Education Coordinator responsible for building, delivering and evaluating regional outreach programs for water, liquid waste and solid waste services.
Port Alberni, BC – The City of Port Alberni has announced the hiring of Willa Thorpe as Director of Parks, Recreation and Heritage. Willa has been hired after an extensive competition that was initiated after the retirement of the previous Director.

The City of Port Alberni is pleased to announce the hiring of Kevin Peters as the new building and plumbing inspector. Kevin brings a wealth of experience in municipal building inspection, having served 24 years with the City of Parksville as the chief building inspector.
Kevin’s extensive experience includes both residential and commercial building inspections and he looks forward to putting his vast knowledge to use to promote health and life-safety standards within the community.
