Island Timberlands Access Closure - High Fire Hazard

Via Island Timberlands information bulletin:

Weather conditions are creating a high safety or environmental hazard in all areas of our land base. To ensure public safety and the protection of the forest, all areas will be closed for non-authorized access. Please respect signs and gates.

Closures will be starting today, July 11, 2017, and progressing to full closure by Friday, July 14, 2017, and will be effect until further notice.

There are several contributing factors to this action:

• fire hazards are moving into extreme conditions
• no weather changes are in the forecast
• provincial fire fighting resources are allocated to interior fires, possibly limiting fire fighting capacity in other regions
