Outdoor Fitness Equipment Opens at Bob Dailey Stadium

Outdoor fitness equipment is now open for free use at Bob Dailey Stadium thanks to a community effort to provide increased physical activity options.

A fitness circuit, including sit-up and stretching benches, an air walker, seated push press, pull-up station, and leg press have been installed within the Bob Dailey Stadium grounds.  The park amenity is the first installation of its kind in Port Alberni, providing a number of complimentary fitness activities for users of the track and adjacent AV Multiplex, Athletic Hall, Alberni District Secondary School and North Island College.

The project was funded from the Parks and Recreation Capital Reserve Fund with a financial contribution from the Alberni Valley Track Club.

Norwell Outdoor Fitness was selected to provide the heavy-duty, low-resistance equipment designed for outdoor installation. A combination of equipment pieces are provided that improve coordination, flexibility and strength.

“Promoting and sustaining healthy lifestyles is part of our department’s core mandate,” said Theresa Kingston, Director of Community Services.  “We are very excited to complete this project and provide free fitness opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities.”

The facility is yet another exciting addition to the sports and education district located on upper Roger Street, adding to the community’s livability and advancing the City’s strategic goals.  The circuit encourages further physical activity, whether you are walking the track, riding the nearby trails or attending an event or function at one of the adjacent facilities.
