New subdivisions must use street names that have been approved by City Council.  The street names must be assigned during the Subdivision approval process with consideration to the following:

• Duplication of street names or the use of very similar street names should be avoided within the wider Alberni Valley area.  Prior to approving a new street name, the Subdivision Approving Officer will check the street name listing from North Island 911 Emergency services to ensure that the name is not already in use in the Alberni Valley. 
• Street names that have not been pre-approved by Council may be considered but Council approval will be required.
