Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ'S)

How do I find out more about the sewer, drain &/or water connection to my property?
The Engineering Department keeps detailed information about city service connections to individual properties, where it is available.  Contact the Engineering Clerk for more information.
Where does our sewage go?
The sanitary sewer utility provides service to approximately 95% of the residences and developments within the City. Sewage is pumped, via several pumpstations, to an aeration lagoon on the south side of the Somass River. The treatment facility produces effluent well within permit parameters.
Where does our storm water go?
The City storm drainage system includes outlets into the Alberni Inlet and Somass Rivers as well as into several creeks within the City boundaries.
