City Hires New Director of Infrastructure Services

Port Alberni, BC – The City of Port Alberni is pleased to announce the hiring of Jim MacDonald as the new Director of Infrastructure Services, effective October 2nd.

Mr. MacDonald is a proud and passionate public servant, and his professional background has included a number of progressive management and technical roles in both municipal and private sectors. He has worked over thirteen years as a municipal employee, most recently managing the Water Services department for the Town of Banff. He has a strong understanding of operations systems and looks forward to supporting the delivery of cost effective and high-quality municipal service levels.

CAO Mike Fox expressed his enthusiasm for this appointment, stating, “Mr. MacDonald’s extensive knowledge and passion for sustainable infrastructure aligns perfectly with the City’s long-term vision.  His leadership will be instrumental in driving forward Council’s commitments to sustainability, efficiency, and community well-being."

As Director of Infrastructure Services, Mr. MacDonald will play a critical role in leading the City's infrastructure planning, development, and maintenance strategies. This position encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities including overseeing transportation networks, utility systems, and public works projects that will contribute to the City's sustainable development objectives.
