City of Port Alberni Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire on 4th Avenue

Port Alberni, BC - Firefighters from the Port Alberni, Beaver Creek, Cherry Creek, and Sproat Lake Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at the 3600 block of 4th Avenue shortly after 11 pm last night. Unfortunately, one person was found deceased at the scene.

At this time, details surrounding the fire and the identity of the deceased individual are not being released pending further investigation.

Members of the media are invited to attend a press briefing at the scene of the fire at 1 pm today, May 19th, where representatives from Port Alberni Fire Department will be available to answer questions.

“We thank the community for their understanding and patience as we continue to work on this investigation”, says Mike Owens, Fire Chief.
