Port Alberni, BC – The City of Port Alberni invites residents to participate in an E-Town Hall Financial Plan meeting on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.

While the event takes place in Council Chambers at City Hall (4850 Argyle Street), the E-Town format will allow for comments and questions to be received from those in attendance, as well as those viewing from the comfort of their home via Zoom webinar.

Port Alberni, BC – The City of Port Alberni has received notice of a decision from the Agricultural Land Commission [ALC] in response to the City’s application to exclude 11.5 ha of land located at 5366 Smith Road, Port Alberni and commonly known as the McLean Mill National Historic Site.

Starting Monday, December 20, 2021, Recycle BC has resumed the collection of non-deposit glass bottles and jars at all ACRD Recycle BC depots, incuding the 3rd Ave. Depot in Port Alberni.

Collection had been temporarily suspended due to reduced transportation resulting from BC floods.

PLEASE NOTE:  Collection of foam packaging remains suspended at this time.

Port Alberni, BC – The City of Port Alberni’s Chief Administrative Officer Tim Pley has announced his retirement effective December 31, 2021.

Pley was hired by the City of Port Alberni as a Firefighter in 1990, progressed through the ranks of the Port Alberni Fire Department, and served for eight years as Fire Chief prior to assuming the role of CAO in 2016.

Port Alberni, BC – On September 30, the City of Port Alberni will observe the first annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The City’s flags continue to fly at half-mast, and our offices and recreation facilities will be closed to commemorate the history and ongoing trauma caused by residential schools and to honour those who were lost and the survivors, families and communities who continue to grieve.
