Port Alberni, BC – The City of Port Alberni is confirming that an employee has tested positive for COVID-19.
After experiencing symptoms on Friday, March 19, the employee was tested that day and is now self-isolating. We are pleased that the employee effectively monitored their health, recognized their symptoms and quickly took the appropriate steps to be tested.

It has since been determined that the oil was released through a closed valve that was found to be in the ‘open’ position. The Port Alberni RCMP are actively investigating this incident and are looking for the public’s assistance to help solve this file.

In the video a City Bylaw Services Officer is seen conversing with building owner Randy Brown. The Officer is heard using profane language.

Port Alberni, BC – The City of Port Alberni is excited to announce the creation of the Public Safety Building.
In alignment with Council’s Corporate Strategic Plan goal of fostering a complete community that is safe, healthy and inclusive, the City has purchased a building located at 3075 3rd Avenue in the Uptown District. This building will be renovated to house the public safety team and is scheduled to open mid-2021.
