News Release - City Appoints Rob Gaudreault as Parks Operations Supervisor

Today, the City is announcing that Rob Gaudreault will serve as Port Alberni’s new parks operations supervisor, effective May 8, 2017.

Gaudreault has served as the building and plumbing inspector with the City for the past two years and with the Alberni-Clayoquot-Regional District for the previous five years, prior to which he was a carpenter with the City’s Parks, Recreation and Heritage Department. This varied background includes extensive project management experience involving construction and service administration.

“Port Alberni is known for our pristine parks and well-managed recreational amenities,” said Mayor Mike Ruttan.  “With Rob’s experience and expertise, we’re excited about the new direction and focus he’ll bring to these services and responsibilities.”

Reporting to the manager of operations, Gaudreault assumes a leadership role in managing the City’s park system, including 270 hectares of parkland and natural open space, 20 km of developed trails, and numerous playgrounds, sports fields, gardens, and public facilities.

“The development and maintenance of our park system is central to our community’s vision and high quality of life,” said Tim Pley, Chief Administrative Officer.  I’ve worked with Rob for a number of years and know that he will bring tremendous value to our operations and our city’s recreation, leisure and athletic offerings.”

Details regarding the replacement of the now vacated building and plumbing inspector position will be released in due course.  The City will continue to provide inspection services during the interim through an arrangement with the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District.
