2010 Tax Information Page

The City of Port Alberni is experiencing unprecedented challenges with revenues and service delivery. While the City realized full payment of its 2009 industrial taxes, Catalyst continue their efforts for dramatically lower tax levels. The province is studying industrial taxation and could present new standards in September. The City of Port Alberni's 2010 - 2014 Financial Plan included service reductions and an increase to residential tax levels. The following information is provided as a background to the property tax issues. Please review these documents and submit your comments to City Council on the Tax Comment Sheet. The City cannot change the tax levels for 2010, but your input will help with the decisions to be made in 2011.
