Training Division 

Port Alberni Fire Department is a multi-faceted organization whose members perform a multitude of tasks. In order to carry out these complex and challenging tasks to the highest standard, personnel require extensive training.

In today’s industry on-going changes such as new technology, new innovations, and a post 9/11 era, means that the Training Division must adapt and keep current with its training mandates. The Training Division constantly strives to provide up-to-the-minute techniques and procedures in order to protect the citizens of Port Alberni, and at the same time keep firefighters as safe as possible.

At any time, personnel may have to handle all manner of emergency situations. Therefore a wide variety of training is needed, including;

Our members take great pride in their ability to teach and learn from one another. Pursuit of excellence is driven by the professional spirit and commitment to service of our members. Many of our members possess specific skills and have been certified as instructors and evaluators in specialty areas of emergency response.

            Live Fire Technicians

            Firefighter Program Evaluators

            Wildland Fire Suppression

  

Our ongoing goal in training is to provide all of our members with the skills and knowledge that they need to serve the public while minimizing their own exposure to risk.
