City staff members have completed Incident Command System training. Incident Command System training to the 200 and 300 levels was hosted at North Island College in Port Alberni during October and November of 2009. The training was provided by the Justice Institute of BC. Funding for the training was provided via the Regional District of Alberni Clayoquot, from a funding grant in the amount of $9,000. The funding grant was provided through the Joint Emergency Preparedness Program, a Federal Government initiative.
Incident Command System is a management system used universally in emergency response. By increasing the Incident Command System knowledge base among local emergency response personnel, the City of Port Alberni and Regional District of Alberni Clayoquot are better able to serve the local community during emergency events."
