The museum offers a variety of school programs for Kindergarten to Grade Twelve classes. Our Core programs are available throughout the school year. New and exciting Seasonal Programs are offered in conjuction with our travelling exhibits. Programs are listed below.

All programs must be booked 2 weeks in advance by calling the Booking Clerk at Echo Centre at 723-2181. The cost is $40.00 per class visit.
"Attention ~ Grade Four to Nine Teachers"
You and your classes are invited to take part in the Alberni Valley Museum Heritage Fair. Participate in this National Program which will highlight your student's history projects. Students will present their history projects to a team of judges, attend the opening ceremony and take part in special workshops and activities. Every student will receive a certificate. Our Heritage Fair has been the stepping stone to the Provincial Heritage Fair and the National Heritage Fair. In 2010 up to five students and one teacher will represent our region at the Provincial Heritage Fair, there will be no National Fair in 2010. Make sure you register your students for this unique opportunity. For more information contact the museum at 250-720-2523. The Heritage Fair Program has been sponsored by The Province of BC, the BC Heritage Fair Society and the Provincial Capital Commission and the City of Port Alberni. The Museum offers a wide variety of core school programs that are available from September to the end of June. These programs have been prepared to relate to the current Social Studies curriculum and all offer a hands-on interactive approach.

During World War II, Japanese Canadians were transported to internment camps in the interior of the province. Using drama in education techniques, the interpretive staff and your students will explore the the personal consequences of world events through the eyes of Terry, a ten year old girl living at the McLean Mill during this difficult time in British Columbia's past. |

Our interpretive staff will journey with your students through the community re-created at McLean Mill. Together, we will explore the reality of working, living and learning in the early years: when a trip to town was an adventure, an argument with the boss might mean the loss of your home and you lived next door to your teacher! |
