General local government elections in British Columbia are held every three years on the third Saturday in November, at the same time as elections for School Boards and Regional District Electoral Directors. The next election is November 15, 2008. The City of Port Alberni voting place is Glenwood Centre.
To be eligible to vote, a person must be 18 years or older, a Canadian citizen, a resident of British Columbia for at least six months, and a resident of the City of Port Alberni for 30 days preceding registration. People who own property in Port Alberni but do not reside in the City, may also vote if they meet the other age, citizenship, and residency requirements. The right to vote does not extend to corporations.
