Centennial Celebration 2012 Overview

 The City of Port Alberni  turns 100 in 2012!

It's a story of two  railways, a land development company, entrepreneurs, the activities of two Boards of Trade and 'The Committee of 11".  March 1, 1912 BC Lieutenant Governor T.W. Paterson created the City of Port Alberni, the fifth incorporated city on Vancouver Island.  On March 27, the seven nominees for mayor and council were acclaimed to office.  The first council meeting was held April 1, 1912. The following year, in January 1913, the City of Alberni was incorporated.

100 years later the City  of Port Alberni is celebrating!  The official inaugural event commemorates the first council meeting and there will be festivites through out the year.  SAVE THE DATE - all residents and friends and family are invited to Homecoming Weekend in August.
