concern about the increased traffic on Johnston Road, and requesting that an
advanced left-turn signal be installed at the traffic lights on the corner of
Johnston and Cherry Creek Roads; the condition of the cement median that
divides the old Alberni Mall and the new Power Mall, and the health and safety
risks associated with the standing water at the corner of Cherry Creek and
Johnston Roads. (City Engineer to provide a verbal report).

Chief/Manager of Information Services - Telephone System Upgrade, Fire Department (HC)

Information Services be received and Council concur with staff's recommendation
to upgrade the telephone system at the Fire Hall and align to the same
operating platform as the rest of the City of Port Alberni and further, that
the City enter in to a "lease to own" arrangement with the Municipal
Finance Authority (MFA) at a cost of approximately $674 per month for sixty
months.

tsunami alert received last Tuesday, June 14th.

of Finance, "Places of Public Worship Exemption Bylaw, No. 4568" (HC)
Report dated June 21, 2005 from the Director of
Finance advising that "Places of Public Worship Exemption
Bylaw, No. 4568" exempting property taxes at 4332 Scott Street adopted by
Council on October 25, 2004, had not been changed to include a recommendation
that the entire property at 4332 Scott Street, owned by the Sri Sanatam Dharam Society
of BC, be fully exempted from property taxes.

two bids were received for the Margaret Street Sewage Forcemain as part of the
North Port Sewer Abatement Project and recommending award of the project to Hub
Excavating Limited.

Council concur with the recommendation to award the North Port Sewer Abatement
Project, Margaret Street Forcemain Contract to Hub Excavating Limited for
$290,758.00 plus GST.
