            Swear in Council Members

              Justice of the Peace Lowell S. Boran Jr. to swear in all members of Council.

B.        APPROVAL OF AGENDA (including introduction of late items)

I.          REPORTS

 1.           Mayor – Annual Address (HC)

             City Council Annual Address presented by Mayor McRae.

               That the City Council Annual Address, presented by the Mayor, be received.

 2.           City Clerk - Appointments to Committees and Commissions (HC)

               List of appointments of Council’s service areas, Acting Mayors, public bodies, commissions and committees (attached).

That the appointments to City Committees and Council representatives to public bodies, commissions and select committees, be adopted as circulated.

 3.           Regional District Directors  (CM)

That Council for the City of Port Alberni appoint Mayor McRae       (allocated 5 votes) and Councillor Chopra  (allocated 4 votes), to the positions of Director of the Alberni Clayoquot Regional District.  Alternates shall be (in order):

                             Councillor Solda

                            Councillor Mealey

                            Councillor Patterson 

                            Councillor Whiteman              

                            Councillor McLeman                                                        

And further that where one alternate attends a meeting, they are allocated the voting strength of the Director they replace.  Where two alternates attend as Directors, the larger voting share shall be assigned to the Councillor appearing first on the above list.

 4.           25 Year Employee Recognition Awards

               Presentation of 25 Year Employee Recognition awards to:

Linda Scobbie             Engineering Department

Gordon Hall                    Fire Department

5.           SCHEDULES OF MEETINGS

               Adoption of the Meeting Schedules of Council and its Committees

a)           Regular Meetings  (HC)

That the 2006 Annual Regular Meeting Schedule of City Council be approved as circulated.

b)          Advisory Planning Commission Meetings  (CM)

That the 2006 Advisory Planning Commission Meeting Schedule be approved as circulated.

c)           Audit Committee Meetings  (HC)

That the 2006 Audit Committee Meeting Schedule be approved as circulated.

d)          Alberni Valley Museum and Heritage Commission Meetings  (IP)

That the 2006 Alberni Valley Museum and Heritage Commission Meeting Schedule be approved as circulated.

      6.           Mayor – Closing Remarks
